History

We are a company founded on the legacy
of one of the world’s great inventors.


Hashimoto In August 1995, the world lost one of its most prolific inventors,
 Dr. Kazuo Hashimoto. Dr. Hashimoto was an inspired
 technologist who gave us thousands of advancements in the
 field of telephony. Today his legacy lives on through the work
 of PhoneTel Communications, Incorporated.

PhoneTel Communications, Inc.

In 1996, PhoneTel Communications, Incorporated was established to further Dr. Hashimoto’s vision and accomplishments.

The company now owns approximately 200 patents—many the result of Dr. Hashimoto’s work on the telephone answering machine. All of the company’s intellectual property is tightly connected to communications systems, with fundamental patents in: fax switching, fax-on-demand, paging notification, caller ID, voice messaging, cordless phones, video reservation systems, and other applications.

PhoneTel Communications is committed to fostering the development of new communications technology. Thus, the primary objective is to grant licenses for the use of an extensive portfolio of patents granted to Dr. Hashimoto.
